![]() | The TDI (Institute for Turkish-German Cooperation) was founded in line with the ZIS (Centre for migrants and intercultural studies) on May 5, 1995. The main focus of the TDI is to deal with tasks within the general agreement of the city partnership Bremen-Izmir. The TDI'S work consists of a broad spectrum of activities and tries to establish an unprejudiced dialogue and an exchange of information between Turkey and Germany. Turks living in Europe should be given new perspectives and they should be made accessible. The TDI understands its function to be mainly enlightening and educational. |

Judicial, political, social and cultural interests of the Turks living in Germany are supported and represented to parliaments, authorities and institutions. The institute aspires to reduce prejudices against one another. This way unfounded criticism against migrants from Turkey will be faced at its core in order to build a foundation for objective discussion. Furthermore, this is meant to create an interest of the Turks living in Germany in a democratic and peaceful development in the country of immigration and in Turkey.
The TDI establishes a bridge for an unprejudiced dialogue and an exchange of information between Turkey and Germany. The following topics are focused on between private and social organisations, authorities and companies: 1. Exchange of scientific information 2. The educational system 3. The dialogue between both cultures 4. Mutual visits between health and social authorities 5. Consultations and cooperation in case of humanitarian help in emergency situations 6. Selected aspects of the press, television, tourism and in sport The TDI seeks these goals through many projects that are organzied by the institute. In addition, these goals are to be met through the following activities: 1. The organization of international congresses, colloquia, symposia, conventions and seminars 2. Cooperation between experts of both countries 3. Active public relations 4. Further development, sponsoring and publication of independent methods and research in the field of intercultural work with Turks and Germans 5.
